My 15 year old Yorkshire Terrier had a stroke yesterday. She is already blind and now can't stand. The vet gave her an injection last night and told me to wait to see how she gets on but she's cried all night and I'm taking her back to vet at 9am. I really think I may have to have her put to sleep but my heart is breaking.

i just wondered cos they can do lazor eye treatment nowadays, why can't they correct the eyesight of the blind

he was only three years old when he lost his sight although he can see in the distance slightly, i just wondered is it to do with the breed or just so happened

I have a blind Doberman puppy she is almost 10 weeks old, I also have 7 other dogs, various breeds, she has become used to the layout of our house now and is avoiding furniture etc but is bumping into the other dogs who obviously just lie down where they choose, the other dogs are reacting to this as though they think she is playing and are either just moving themselves or engaging in play with her, why is she not using her nose more to learn that the dogs are in the way? Does anyone know of any useful websites for owners of blind dogs? She will have completed her vaccinations soon and will be ready for socialisation, I am going to take her to puppy socialisation as well as taking her to as many different situations as I can to meet people and dogs, I know how to socialise a dog however any advice from other owners who have trained and socialised blind puppies would be welcome.
