General Plumbing - Pipe-Work, Taps, etc

General pipe work consists of leaks, repairing or fitting taps and radiators or perhaps even doing a general assesment of a properties plumbing. All jobs which could be considered less time consuming could be considered small.

Plumbing undertakes a large sphere of work. Work associated with the provision of water supply pipework including that used for fire fighting and kitchens;  all forms of space heating, gas installation, sanitary appliances, discharge pipework and drainage; the weathering of structures and buildings. Some plumbers work as 'wet only plumbers', dealing with piped systems for water such as installing radiators, installing bathroom suites and showers. Others decide to take additional plumbing courses and branch out into the gas trade so they can install gas central heating systems as well, so they must be CORGI registeredcontractors.

  • Resolved Question: Please help my Central Heating has been heating the upstairs radiators only whilst the downstairs are cold.?

My Central Heating System has just started heating the upstairs radiators only. I was suspecting a block in the system so I turned off the upstairs radiators to try and force the water to flow into the downstairs radiators. The downstairs started heating up but when I turned on the upstairs radiators the downstairs became cold again. Strangely the hot water is now warm next to cold. When I restart the boiler I can hear the pump kicking in which I assumed that it is worked (not sure if I'm correct). I called a plumber who came to assess the boiler but he wasn't sure what was wrong with it. Please help me my family is freezing. Thanks

  • Resolved Question: My hot water pipes scream! Please help?

We recently got a central heating system installed (we had nothing at all before, so full job - floors up, water pipes etc. in). Our hot water tank was moved from the bathroom to the attic. Whenever I run the hot tap the pipes make a horrible noise - it's so loud that if I go to the loo in the middle of the night I have to wash my hands under the cold tap, otherwise it wakes everyone up. The plumber says everything's fine, but it's clearly not. He's messed us around a lot and took three full months to install the system. It went 100% over budget and I've no money left to get another plumber in. Can anyone help? By the way, the cold water is absolutely fine.

  • Resolved Question: URGENT need help with maths homework?

it says ' Mr Holmes earns £456 a week. He has a pay increase of 3%, work out how much he will earn after the pay increase' thats the first one and the second one is 'A plumber charges teresa £4389 for a new central heating system, the plumber says if she pays before 7 seven days he will reduce the bill by 5%, she pays within seven days, work out how much she saves.' im aware that this is very basic and easy but maths is not my strong point, any answers would be highly appreciated.

  • Resolved Question: How can I streamline deliveries?

I am starting a online business, supplying plumbing heating electrical items to retail and trade customers. I have a central warehouse with stock from where customers can collect. How do I deliver the items nationally? I have an account with FedEx but they have weight and size restrictions! I was also looking at a way where I could get items collected from my suppliers, and delivered to my customers without handling the goods. I've talked to a few friends but I'm non the wiser so I turn to the yahoo community for help. My suppliers will only deliver direct to me, but will allow collections I was looking for a courier company or pallet network who can collect from suppliers on my behalf and deliver direct to my customers

  • Resolved Question: What was life like in Britain from 1918-1939?

What clothes did people wear? Did homes have indoor plumbing, electricity or central heating? What food did people (of all economic backgrounds) eat? What did people do for entertainment? What did families do together? What was school life like? What was the workplace like? What was Christmas time like? (more religious, family orientated etc)
