I need to purchase a estimating software package for a small to mid size British based contractor and need some advice, I don't want to purchase a hard to use package so need some advice. I am not a trained estimator or quantity surveyor, I came from the trade to run my own business and thus the reason for not knowing enough about which software is going to best suit my needs. okay...typical house in LA would run mid to high hundreds of thousands of dollars while the same house can go for like 80K in the boonies (middle of nowhere). obviously its because of the location. but then that would mean that the labor and materials (which would remain relatively the same nomatter where you build your house) is less than 80K, because i doubt someone spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to build a house that can only be sold for 100K at most because of its location. so this makes me assume that to build a typical 5 bedroom 3 bathrooms nice house (material and labor wise only) should cost 100K, right? but when i asked a contractor to build me a guest room in the back yard he quoted me 200K.
