Carpenters & Joiners

A carpenter is a skilled craftsman who performs carpentry

carpentry carpenter wood woodwork

A carpenter is a skilled craftsman who performs carpentry; a wide range of woodworking that includes constructing buildings, furniture, and other objects out of wood. The work generally involves significant manual labour and work outdoors, particularly in rough carpentry, In British slang a carpenter is sometimes referred to as a "chippie". A joiner is a woodworker whose work involves making things by joining pieces of wood. Therefore the trades are very similar as most carpenters would regularly have to join wood in the process.

  • Resolved Question: Do you think they would let him enter the USA?

Long story but my ex-boyfriend is claiming he's been offered a job in America. I know the unemployment rate is high and its not easy to get a visa so I'm not sure if I believe him. He's not got many qualifications. He has 4 GCSEs - ( maths, double science and religious studies) and a few btecs one in general work ( he did paintin, decorating, joinery, mechanics etc - this is a low high school qualifaction at college) Aged 16 he entered a job as a carpenter and was trained on the job. He's been on minimum wage for this reason. He's not actually a qualified joiner and holds no formal qualifications for it except chemical licienses. He's 20 and we're British. How likely is this?
