Decking is a very pleasing to the eye aesthetic for any garden

Garden decking is a very pleasing to the eye aesthetic for any garden, but is also practical by increasing run-off of rain by being built with solid, hard, flat material (wood) this reduces flooding and waterlog in gardens. Decking can also provide levels to your garden by including steps onto differing heights, creating a similar effect as a patio.

  • Resolved Question: How can I stop the grass around my palm trees from dying?

I have 4 palm trees in my garden in one area and have recently had new turf laid as part of a landscaping job on the garden. However, there is a patch approx 1m in diameter from the base of the trees that has gone bone dry and dying. I guess it's due to the shallow root structure of the palms but I wondered if there is anything I can do that will help the turf to come back to life or, if I re-lay turfs around this area, what will ensure it "takes" properly and does not end up dying. The palms make a great feature to the garden so removing them is not an option. Thanks.

  • Open Question: how come grass growing through membrane?

  • Resolved Question: What's the best thing you've ever found while digging?

This is a true story. A friend of a friend had recently been discharged from the pysch ward after suffering a severe psychotic episode. My friend enlisted him to help out landscaping his garden as something to help keep him busy and on track. On the first day the bloke was digging a trench for some raised beds. And dug up a spade. He went back into hospital the same day. So what interesting items have you dug up?
