  • Open Question: Is there any list of sorts of self employement?

I want to register as self employed but there is a question: What sort of self employed work do you do? Is it possible to do more than one line of work, eg. selling on the ebay, general maintenance, cleaning and painting and decorating as one self employment?

  • Open Question: How do prepare these walls for decorating?

I got a new flat. I stripped the old wallpaper off the living room as they'd done a terrible job at it and then they painted on top. Under the paper it isn't smooth plaster, it's sort of all grey stone with lots of tiny holes in it. It sort of looks like someone has put a million pencil holes in it. I assumed it would be plaster. I tried a few layers of paint and the paint sticks to it, but you can still see these holes. I don't know a thing about DIY so I thought I would need to use lining paper then paint the walls white (which is what I want I the living room) Every rooms walls are like this so I'm kind off looking for the cheapest option too. Does anyone know if the Polycell Basecoat 3-1 in for this type of thing? One of my rooms is 13ft by 11ft. Guess at how much I may need? I'll best answer the most informative :)

  • Open Question: Fresh paint is bubbling up after a lot of prep work. Why?

My mum had a burst water pipe in her wall. It only became noticeable after she decorated and stains started appearing in the paintwork, then bubbles. Long story short, leak found, wall stripped of plaster, dried out (de-humidifier), re-plastered. She then left the plaster to completely dry out before painting with a damp sealant, then silk emulsion, then normal emulsion. But alas the bubbles have re-appeared. I have told her not to pop the bubbles as I am thinking maybe any moisture left might come out through the other side of the wall which has not yet had a finish applied. What has caused it and how can she prevent it happening again?

  • Resolved Question: decorating my bedroom?

Im redecorating my bedroom. I have this wallpaper>http://www.polyvore.com/suzanne_purple_gold_damask_wallpaper/thing?id=35608809 and i have paint a lighter shade for the walls im not putting it up on. And i have bed sheets. Im looking to accessorize my room really, like cushions and stuff. I dont have a clue what to decorate with that wouldnt clash with the damask print wallpaper. any ideas?

  • Resolved Question: Shouldd I remove bathroom tiles or apply paint or stickers?

Another question about my new flat. Basically the previous tenant left ugly uneven frog tiles in a strip around my bathroom and I hate them. Before I decorate I want to know if I should knock them off and replace them. Is that easy enough? Or just apply some tile stickers to disguise their ugliness? For cost effectivenss as I have a lot of other things to do in this place would a pro cost very much to get the job done?
