  • Open Question: How long do the blades last in a (Belle) Minipave block splitter?

Before I buy one, can someone please tell me (roughly) how long a set of blades last in a belle minipave block paving splitter. I know it depends how much it used and how big the jobs are, but I am looking for a rough idea......I don't want to buy one if I have to buy 3 sets of blades per driveway!! Any help will be gratefully appreciated!!

  • Resolved Question: Buying a family home: would you prefer more living accomodation, or a garage?

We are considering making our tandem garage (ie single width, double length) into a kitchen/diner/family room, and also putting a large double bedroom/ensuite on top. At the moment we don't really use the garage, just for general junk. My concern is whether losing the garage would put us in a worse position when we eventually sell the house. We would still have a private driveway, and potential for off-street parking for another 1 - 2 cars if the front garden was paved over. On street parking is also available, but like most UK streets becoming busier as the years go by. Your opinions please? The conversion would be for our benefit - we'd plan to stay here until our kids grow up and leave home. It wouldn't be a project intended to add value for selling the house.

  • Resolved Question: Should I replace paving slabs with stone chippings.?

My paved drive is starting to move and sink in parts. we are selling the house and I was thinking of putting stone chippings down in place of the slabs as a cheap way of sprucing the driveway up. Do I need to put a new sub base and do the chippings cause more problems.

  • Resolved Question: Complaints about roadworks??

Got the lovely Skanska/McNichols digging up my road at the moment.Trouble is they decided to put a nice 2ft box on the side of my house and dug my Crazy Paved Driveway up then filled it back with concrete and drew lines on it to try and cover it up ALL WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!!...Anyone know who one contacts about these guys.Have tried the company and ther'e not interested.Thanx in ADVANCE

  • Voting Question: Is the previous owner responsible for repairs up to 6 months after selling.?

We moved 5 months ago into a bungalow that had been refrubished. we had a surve carrried out and found a fault with the roof (asbestos) which we got covered by owner, but we have had to pay out a lot more for other things that weren't done properly and now we have found out there is a major leak under the new driveway and will have to have drive up. Water board will repair it and put dirve flat but we are responsible for cost of putting block paving back. We had the survey done before we bought it and he just came up with the asbestos roof. The previous owner put the drive down.
