Flat Roofs
Flat roofs are constructed basically with joists spanning the gap between two walls, covered by sheet timber or other material.
In the case of timber roof a further, waterproof cover is required. The weight of these last two roof coverings, together with the span, form the basis of the calculation for the size of roof joists required. A further part of this equation is discovered in Approved document A of the Building Regulations (Structure) where the possible snow loadings on roof, depending on area of the country and height above the ordinance datum, are taken into consideration. It is therefore important, before building your roofing structure that you have the desired building regulation approval. There are 8 “maximum span” tables in the regulations, which deal with the loading and roof span of the flat roof together with any slight pitch over 10 degrees that it may have to dispose of rainwater.
Open Question: is there a metal replacement?
is there anyone in uk that knows of a replacement for the plastic fingers that go under the roof tiles that are above The fascia boards as i have problems with rodents eating thro them & getting into my loft ???
have tried all the usual dealers & even the window & facia suppliers but appears not made in Uk dont know why ??? unless you know better then tell me please ty

Open Question: Removing pigeons? (LONDON/UK ONLY)?
We currently have pigeons in both of our attic spaces due to loss of roof tiles (Victorian property/Bad Weather). In one of the attic spaces is our water tank which they seem to have been using as feathers have come through bathroom taps (only supplies water to bathroom).
Would like some advice/quotes/estimation on getting rid of these pigeons and how to prevent them from coming back.

Resolved Question: Why does my throat hurt?
My throat has hurt since yesterday morning, and ive had a bit of a cough.
the roof of my mouth was itchy earlier but now it's not that bad.
my throats sore near my "adams apple". Laryngitis could be possible, but im not sure cause my voice sounds normal...
I have had no other symptoms, and i'm a sufferer of tonsillitis, ive had it a couple times, and ive had strep throat as well, and it doesn't feel the same! Could it be laryngitis? or just a bit of an infection.. it hasn't gotten better, or worse.
it's also just gone into spring, and it was very windy these past couple days.
could i have allergies?
so i guess what im asking is;
is it laryngitis, allergies or something else.
