I bought a cream rug last December and it just looks a mess as it shows every single mark on it that a baby and a dog bring with them. I've already had enough of it and want to buy a new one but don't know what colour would be best to hide the marks. My sofa is bright red and I have black and white floor tiles under the rug, so something that would look ok with these colours would be good, but really I'm just after your ideas on what would hide marks the best.

Cause having paid £900 to get my Mum's kitchen extension roof re-tiled after a untraceable leak amongst the old tiles, where water came in and damaged the internal kitchen ceiling below......... ....I mean the whole section could have just been a sheet of rigid black plastic and job done surely? Totally waterproof.
