Walls - Supply & Fit

Generally, ceramic, porcelain, and stone tile can be installed on interior walls

Generally, ceramic, porcelain, and stone tile can be installed on interior walls that are structurally stable, on plane, and consist of a suitable substrate. Suitable substrates include masonry, backer-board, gypsum board (drywall), or mortar beds. Many people, including professional tilers, like to use good quality mastics due to their extended pot life and their extended "on the wall tiling time." Good quality mastics can be applied on the wall and still be able to hang tile twice as long as portland cement thinset of equal quality. Caution must be exercised that the mastic does not "glaze over" rendering the mastic too dry to bond the tile to the wall.

  • Open Question: Social worker trying to put my kids on the at risk register?

We have had a social worker for about 4 years now due to a violent ex partner 4 years ago and he hurt my son and he went to court for it and got away with it basically so after 3 years I managed to get my children back from volentarily letting them stay at my mums but now we've been on a suervision order for nearly a year and over the past 3 months my oldest son has been going to school and making up stories which were proved to be stories and one where the social worker came out asking if my 8 year old son had a motorbike and owned a bb gun my son also told the school that my partner now made him cut his knee on a broken tile in the hall so my partner had to leave home for 2 days til police investigated it and proved it wasn't due to my partner but now a week later the social work won't tell us why but wants my kids put on the at risk register no idea why he said he can't tell us but we have done nothing wrong I need some help x

  • Open Question: Can you re-tile vinyl bathroom tyles?

I layed bathroom vinyl tiles 5 years ago and they are gaping and cracking at bits. Do I need to rip them up? Would it look shocking of I tiled straight on top. Are they difficult to lift? Thanks for any advice.

  • Open Question: Can I claim on my Home Insurance?

We had a new bathroom suite put in last year but not new tiles. Upon opening the shower screen last night part of the tile has come off breaking the screen and leaving a big hole where it was drilled into. Is this something I can claim for on my home insurance? I have been having a look into it and it all seems a bit vague to me!!

  • Open Question: Why does snow collect more in our gutters than in neighbours?

My semi detached house had a replacement tile roof and guttering in the summer but a heavy snowfall this weekend has shown all the snow completely blocking the gutters. What is puzzling is that neighbours either side in near identical houses have no such snow accumulation. What is causing the snow to collect in my roof guttering more than anyone elses?
