  • Resolved Question: So, at 3 a.m. I'm in bed sleeping and I hear...?

glass shattering. But for some reason, my pitt bull is not doing a thing. I was home alone... and a little worried. I get up, the pitt is now growling... I'm turning on the lights... can't find any broken glass ANYWHERE! So, I went back to bed, figured I was dreaming it. A few minutes later I hear more glass shattering, get up again.... can't find anything. The house is locked down, windows are fine... Then today I go to get in my shower, step in and FOUND THE BROKEN GLASS! How in the world does a glass shower door just SHATTER like that??? My husband is going to LOVE this one! I found the broken glass when I STEPPED IN IT.... It was a sliding glass door...

  • Open Question: Make up good similes or metaphors for these words, 10 points for best!?

-Candle flickered/flickering candlesticks -Heavy armour -Stained-glass windows -Old wooden tables -Family portraits -Suspending chandelier -Winding stairs

  • Open Question: My etched-glass window pane is broken, can anyone help?

Help! We've got a large Edwardian/Victorian etched glass sash window overlooking our stairs. When we got up this morning, one of the little etched side-panes was cracked. I've had a look, and it's only broken on the outside, no damage to the indoor side. Who can I get to fix this? I don't want to replace the pane, as it matches all the other little panes around the side (they are all etched with an intricate floral design). So I don't just want an ordinary glazier. Has anyone else been in this situation? Can you recommend anyone? Is anyone out there a speciality-glazier? Please help! It's such a beautiful window, and I just don't know what to do. And can anyone think what might have caused this? The window does not overlook the street - it looks out over the garden, so it wasn't vandalism. It was cold last night, but not too cold (about -3).

  • Resolved Question: why are my windows damp and black inside?

we are thinking of replacing the wooden windows to upvc next year, but i think our windows will get worse with the blackness that's sits at the bottom of the glass, because it lessen the ventilation.our glass on each window holds a lot of condensation which drips down to cause this black mould,we try to ventilate each room as much as we can but at this time of year its to cold to do that.any advice on our to get rid of this problem?it ruins our blinds/curtains as well.please help.

  • Open Question: Help me choose a colour for my hall, stairs and landing?

I moved in to a house and the hall, stairs and landing have been artexed in a fan pattern but the worse part is it has been painted green and at night when the light is on it's really bright and all the neighbours can see it as we got 2 windows at the bottom of the stairs with just net curtains and the front door has got a pain of glass. If you walk down the road about half a mile you can still see it so you can tell how bright it is so now im now getting to the point i'm ashamed to open the front door with the light on. What colour would you choose as at the moment im thinking of going to b&q and and buying there own brand magnolia.
